Mrs. Sherry Hsiao is a Sydney-based, USA & Taiwan-trained, Taiwan-born musician and the founder and Artistic Director of the Sherry Music Academy & Sydneysider Music Academy. There, she lectures on Violin & Piano Performance and Chamber Ensemble Program. Sherry is also the Artistic Director of the Harmony Symphony Orchestra, and the Conductor of the Secondo Orchestra at Symphonia Jubilate. Mrs. Hsiao has previously held positions as the Director of the 2022 NSW State Music Camp Strings Ensemble and the Strings Orchestras at primary and secondary schools, catholic colleges, and tertiary education networks in Taipei, Taiwan.
​Mrs Hsiao is also an accomplished violinist and pianist, with nearly three decades of extensive worldwide professional philharmonic orchestra performance experience. She has a strong classical music background, having obtained her Bachelor of Music from Taipei, Taiwan, and later her Master of Music with honours from a US state university, followed by her Doctoral of Musical Arts studies in conducting and violin studies. Mrs Hsiao was the recipient of an Outstanding Graduate Student Award of Music and a Music Scholarship from the School of Music ( MSU & UK), and she continues to perform with many symphony orchestras around the world.
Additionally, Mrs Hsiao holds major international music education credits and certificates in the Dalcroze Eurhythmic Methods, the Suzuki Methods, and the Orff Schulwerk pedagogy in Taiwan and the USA. She has participated in numerous International and National Music Education Conferences throughout the United States and is an accomplished music arranger for the steel drum, strings orchestra and chamber ensembles. Her numerous repertoires have been performed throughout the world, and she has also published a series of violin and Duo books for violin and piano students.
Mrs Hsiao is highly active as a conductor, adjudicator, violinist, pianist, and music arranger. She has been widely recognized for her dedication to music, having earned numerous awards and prizes in her music career, including her teaching coursework accredited award from the Taiwan Ministry of Education in 2005, her music contribution from the Georges River Council in 2017, as well as the Best Music Teacher Award from the Australian Education Enterprise Awards in 2021.
Mrs Hsiao is a humble yet renowned musician and teacher, dedicated to helping her students reach their fullest potential through her extensive performance and teaching experience. Believing that music has the power to unite and bring joy, she encourages her students' creativity while mastering their instruments and making a positive impact through their music. Mrs Hsiao's teaching style combines creative and traditional approaches to help her students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of music. She encourages her students to explore different musical genres and styles and provides them with the necessary guidance and support to help them reach their full potential. She also uses innovative techniques, such as Dalcroze Eurhythmic Methods, the Suzuki Methods, the Orff Schulwerk pedagogy, and the Conservatorium tradition, to customize lessons to each student's individual needs.
Through her dedication and extensive knowledge and experience, Mrs Hsiao strives to help her students to achieve their musical ambitions, and bring music's beauty to the family, community, and world.
