Sherry Hsiao

Sherry Hsiao is an internationally recognized professional music artist violinist and pianist. She has received her Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts research, and music teaching qualifications in Taiwan, the United States, Italy, and Australia on four different continents. Sherry has more than 20 years of extensive professional Philharmonic Orchestra performance experiences, as well as worldwide music artist-teaching experiences in the Australian NSW government school, non-government schools, and a number range of primary, secondary, tertiary schools in the USA and Taiwan. Dr. Hsiao is also the founder of the Sydneysider Music Academy and lecturing Violin/ Piano / Chamber Artis program. She is a Full Member of the Music Teachers Association, NSW Australia, and is also conducting at several Youth Orchestras.

Sherry has strong worldwide classical music trained background she achieved her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music from Soochow University, Taiwan in 1996. While serving as music faculty after graduating, she has also completed her strings pedagogy trained and received Suzuki Methods qualifications. Sherry then moved to the USA and completed her Master of Music in Violin Performance and Music Education from State University, USA. During her studies, Hsiao held the Outstanding Graduate Student Award of Music and was a Scholarship Recipient of the School of Music. Alongside, Hsiao completed the Dalcroze Eurhythmic piano pedagogy at Carnegie Mellon University, the USA in 2001.

Later that year, Sherry undertook her Doctoral of Musical Arts studies in Violin Performance and Conducting and has completed the Orff Schulwerk pedagogy train from the University, USA. While studying for her DMA, she received two scholarships from BIACS Memorial and the School of Music. Sherry then was appointed to the violin/ piano and conductor faculty at several primary, secondary, and tertiary education schools both in USA and Taiwan before migrating to Australia. Dr. Hsiao has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes in her music teaching career, including her teaching coursework accredited award from the Taiwan Ministry of Education. Sherry is still full of passion in her music artistic teaching industry based in Sydney Australia.

Sherry has numerous world-class stage performance experiences in the philharmonic orchestras across Australia, Italy, the USA, and Taiwan. Such as the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestras, the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, the Italy Opera and Theater Orchestra, the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra,the Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Artist Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Voces Caelestium Symphony Orchestra, etc. and still an active Symphony Orchestra violin performer artist.


Sherry is also an arranging composer of the steel drum, strings orchestra, and chamber orchestra. Her numerous repertoires have been performed throughout the world. Sherry has published a series of violin and Duo books. In addition, Sherry has been appointed as Artistic Director and Leader for several education ensembles performance touring and education ensemble collective while in Taiwan and the USA. In 2020, Sherry has appointed as the Artist Conductor of Nan Tien Temple String Youth Orchestra, and the Harmony Symphony Youth Orchestra. Sherry is also conducting symphony orchestras of NSW primary and secondary school education networks.

Having rich worldwide musical artist stage and teaching experiences, Sherry is passionate about sharing her beautiful musical journey and hope to inspire more young generation and adult music lover to achieve their musical dreams and together light up every corner of the world by their love of music.
