Since founding SMA in 2006, Mrs. Hsiao has led its growth into a trusted, highly regarded music academy with studios in both Sydney and Taiwan. Her unwavering commitment to mentoring and inspiring young musicians remains at the heart of SMA's mission, empowering students to reach their full musical potential.

 

Mrs. Sherry Hsiao is a renowned Sydney-based musician and educator with nearly three decades of professional performance experience, having performed with major philharmonic orchestras worldwide. Beginning her musical journey at the age of five and entering a prestigious conservatory at twelve, she pursued advanced studies in violin and piano, earning a Bachelor of Music from Taiwan, a Master of Music with honors from a U.S. State University, and further pursued Doctoral of Musical Arts studies in Conducting and Violin Performance. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Graduate Student Award and Music Scholarships from the School of Music (MSU & UK), while remaining active in international performance engagements.

What sets Mrs. Hsiao apart is her dedication to the holistic development of each student. With specialized training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Suzuki Talent Education, and Orff Schulwerk Pedagogies, she fosters a nurturing and innovative learning environment that supports students from beginners to those preparing for exams and competitions. Her approach blends traditional methods with creative techniques to develop both strong technical skills and musical artistry.

She encourages creativity, discipline, and musical expression, helping students not only master their instruments but also develop key life skills such as confidence, perseverance, and resilience. Under her guidance, students consistently excel in exams, local festivals, and competitions, with many advancing to study at prestigious music conservatories in the U.S., Taiwan, Canada, Singapore, and Sydney. Several have even pursued professional music careers, reaching exceptional heights and making significant contributions to the global music industry.
