Sherry Hsiao is a dynamic and passionate international musician, and a professional violin & piano specialist of Music over 25 years. She is the founder of Sherry Music Academy and has great deal of expertise and international classical music experiences to trains her music students in the efficient and effective methods that she as developed. She is the member of Music Teachers' Associations, and an registered teacher of AMEB, ABRSM and NSW DOE. All her students are from Sydney’s most prestigious schools such as MLC, PLC, St. Andrew, St. Mary, Abbotsleigh, Bethlehem, Ravenswood, Meriden, Sabina, Trinity, Newington, The King’s, Sydney Boy, Sydney Girl, James Ruse, Normanhurst Boy, Chatswood HS, Concord HS, Burwood Girl, Marist, Pymble PS and many others.
Sherry holds a Doctoral of Musical Arts Studied (2004) and also holds Master Degree in Music with Honors (2001) both in the USA. She has also been a music TA at the University of Kentucky, the Morehead State University, and the Lexington Primary School in the USA. And has taught at the fantastic Inner-West Youth Orchestras - Symphonia Jubilate, Concord HS, Auburn Girl HS, Rosebank, as well as worked as a conductor at the NNT Youth String Orchestra, summer music school, music camp, and chamber ensemble since 2008 in the Greater Sydney.
Sherry Hsiao is also the author of a series of violin books, “Happy Learning Violin”, she has published for book 1, 2, 3 and the violin duet for book 1 & 2. While she taught at ZhongZheng College, and ZhongShan College in Taipei, Taiwan for three years after she returns from the USA. She has also worked as a conductor at many famous primary and secondary music schools in Taipei, Taiwan for six years. Her Bachelor’s Music degree with Honors is from SooChow University in Taiwan (1996), she also holds Associate of Music Degree in Taiwan (1989) where she majored in Piano & Violin with a minor in Orchestration.
She began her studies in Piano at the age of 5, and studies in violin at the age of 11. By the age of 14, she won an outstanding achievement prize in the Taiwan Youth Piano Music Competition. And received her first music certificate diploma in her secondary School where she majored in Piano & Violin with a minor in Composition in Taiwan. Since then, Sherry has been received many musical achievements including: The High Distinction of Violin Performance & Piano Performance at Junior Music College in Taiwan (1989-1995), the Honor Award of Violin Performance at SCU (1996), the Outstanding Graduate Student Music Honor Awards in the USA (2001 - 2002), the Indo-American Society Awards in the USA (2003), the Music Scholarship Prize of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra touring to Italy (2004), the Outstanding Music Teacher Award in Taiwan (2008), the Outstanding Tertiary level Music Class Accredited from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan (2009), the Appreciation Awards by Georges River Council NSW (2017), the Humanistic Buddhism Speaker Awards by Buddha’s Light International Association (2017), the Sydney Best Music Teacher Awards by Australian E Award (2021).
Sherry also holds major international music educations credits and certificates of Dalcroze Euthythmic, Orff Schulwerk, and Suzuki Method. Sherry believes that as music educator and as orchestra musician can work hand in hand. She loves to custom designs lessons to both piano and violin students, such as conforms to ergonomic posture structure and the beauty sound of musicality skills for student needs.
Sherry is also passionate about composing music for musical, choirs, string orchestra, and steel tongue drum, the newly invented fascinating instrument, and has been arranged for those over hundreds of music for FGS charity events to perform (2008-2021).
With her varied worldwide music insight and the beauty of musical art appreciation, Sherry hopes to inspire more young generations to believe in their dreams and to change the world with harmony by their best efforts.
